The rate at which faces age varies considerably. Much of this is determined genetically, although the ageing process may be accelerated by excessive sun exposure or smoking.
Forehead lift or "brow lift" restores a more youthful, refreshed look to the area above the eyes. The procedure corrects drooping brows and improves the horizontal lines and furrows that can make a person appear angry, sad or tired.
TSurgery to reshape the nose, or Rhinoplasty, is one of the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedures.
Eyelid aging is usually due to loosening of the skin and protrusion of fat. In the upper eyelids this often causes a hooded appearance.
In balancing the proportions, particularly of the nose, cheeks, chin and forehead can lead to a disharmony of facial appearance that some people find aesthetically unattractive.
As part of the aging process our skin progressively loses its elasticity and our facial muscles tend to slacken. The effects of gravity, smoking and exposure to sun along with the stresses of daily life can all be seen in our faces.
Many facial lines are caused by the repeated use of the underlying facial muscles which over time results in a permanent crease or wrinkle. Botulinum (Botox) offers an alternative to surgery for many people with relatively mild wrinkles.
Injectable fillers can be used to treat facial wrinkles caused by aging and can also be used to add fullness to the lips and cheeks.
