Skin Lesions

Many children need to have small skin lesions removed either for diagnosis or to remove a troublesome and irritating lesion. Most young children need to have a general anaesthetic to remove these lesions.

At David Dunaway & Associates, day case surgery facilities are available so that children can be admitted on the day of surgery shortly before their anaesthetic. Most children leave hospital a few hours after surgery and where sutures (stitches) are required, it is usual to use dissolvable stitches so that children do not have to undergo the discomfort of having their sutures removed. Many older children are able to have small skin lesions removed under local anaesthetic. These procedures are undertaken in a comfortable and friendly environment with specialised children’s nursing staff.
